Father Ian

Father Ian

Father Ian Graham came to Oxford as a graduate student in 1980, and has served the community as Deacon (1983-1986) and Priest (1986-present).  He has been our Parish Priest since Metropolitan Kallistos retired from that position in 2001.

Metropolitan Kallistos of Diokleia

Our founder and original Parish Priest (1966-2001) has served as an Assistant Bishop in the Archdiocese of Thyateira and Great Britain since his consecration in 1982.  We are most fortunate in being able to continue to enjoy the blessing of His Excellency's ministry within our community.

Father Ian's Christmas letter, 2016

Dear Friends,

As usual at this time of the year I am writing to wish you all the blessings of the forthcoming feast of our Lord’s Nativity, and to let you know the times of the services at our Church over Christmas and the New Year period.  Please note that this year with Christmas falling on a Sunday the Sunday services will be later than usual.

As so often, the past year has raised more questions than answers. We may like to think that we are in control, but the world has a way of showing us how little confidence we can have in our ability to predict what the future holds. In the face of uncertainty, personal and public, we discover our own vulnerability and the fear that comes with it. But at this dark time of the year our Church calls us to meet the God who has become vulnerable for our sake, who stands with us, carrying our worry and our fear, and in whose hands the future is secure. “The wealth of the Godhead shone forth in utter poverty” we are reminded at Matins on Christmas Day. May we all be both comforted and strengthened by the coming of Emmanuel (God with us), and may we share that comfort, strength and hope with all those who are in need of the Lord’s assurance.

With my love to you all,

Fr Ian
